A HISTORY OF ARIZONA.
IRONICALLY, IT ALL BEGINS IN BROOKLYN.
TEA TIME
In 1990, Don was delivering beer to one of his regular customers when a Snapple truck pulled up. Out came case after case. So, John and Don met with their board of advisors (each other) and decided to jump headfirst into the tea business.
Their business plan was simple - create a high quality product in packaging that stands out. Borrowing from the motif from their south-western inspired house in Queens, Don's wife, Ilene, sat down to create that first eye-catching design that would shape the future of the entire AriZona brand. By 1992, the first bottles of AriZona hit the shelves in New York City. These uniquely tall cans literally stood head and shoulders above the rest. Immediately, John and Don had a hit on their hands.
IT JUST KEEPS GETTING HOTTER
In less than 15 years, AriZona Iced Tea has become the #1 ready-to-drink tea in the United States. And they've done this consistently beating up on some of the world's heavyweight corporations like Pepsi and Unilever (Lipton), Coca-Cola (Nestea) and Cadbury-Schweppes (Snapple). Not bad for two guys from Brooklyn.
